Farmers State Bank

The Challenge
Alert to the need for tight system security, Farmers State Bank asked us to review the internal controls within its existing computer system.

The Scope
The information systems (IS) controls review addressed the requirements for the Federal Financial Institution Examination Council, and focused on review of the mail computer system, Fedline, and network security. In connection with the National Automated Clearing House Association Operating Rules, we analyzed the following considerations:

  • General automated clearing house (ACH) controls
  • ACH receipt controls
  • ACH origination controls

The Result
In addition to periodic status reports during the project, we presented Farmers State Bank with a final written report of our findings and recommendations, including the risk and difficulty to resolve the issues. The findings and recommendations will be useful in enhancing the security surrounding the systems and in providing cost-effective control improvements.
