Building a Better Presence Online

The Client
Ames Construction, Inc. is a full-service, heavy civil and industrial general contractor. Since their founding in 1960, they have delivered quality construction services to customers across the country.

The Challenge
Ames wanted to develop a Web site that would:

  • Educate and inform the public about their business.
  • Provide information about Ames to potential clients.
  • Provide bidding information to sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Provide company and industry information to employees.
  • Provide information about employment opportunities and online applications for potential employees.

In addition, the site needed to be secure and built for growth possibilities.

The Solution
Our Integrated Technology Solutions Group teamed with a local marketing and advertising firm to design and develop a Web site that offers a wide range of information to both clients and employees -- the majority of which can be maintained by Ames Construction personnel without the help of a technical expert. The site educates and informs the public about Ames Construction through general company information, press releases, news awards, and information on current projects and success stories. Using the Web site, subcontractors and suppliers can get bidding information, and potential employees can view a list of open positions and complete an online application. Now the company has a well-built, informative, and secure Web presence at www.amesconstruction.com.

The Details
We built the Web site using Lotus Notes/Domino architecture, and included six integrated databases to store various parts of the Web site content. The Domino infrastructure manages security, and our Lotus Notes/Domino Group in Bloomington, MN, hosts the site.
