McGladrey Gives Back Through National Volunteer Day and The McGladrey ClassicMore than 2,100 employees and clients volunteer for 85 nonprofits nationwide; golf tournament proceeds for charity total approximately $300,000CHICAGO (November 16, 2011) —More than 2,100 employees and clients from RSM McGladrey Inc. and McGladrey & Pullen LLP – leading providers of assurance, tax and consulting services under the McGladrey brand – recently gave back to their communities by participating in more than 135 volunteer initiatives across the country through the firms' second national Volunteer Day. This followed on the heels of the donation of approximately $300,000 of proceeds from The McGladrey Classic, a PGA TOUR Fall Series event , sponsored by McGladrey, to local and national nonprofit organizations. RSM McGladrey and McGladrey & Pullen employees and clients joined forces to sort clothing, cut brush and shrubbery, pick vegetables, clean yards, teach children, walk dogs and conduct many other volunteer services needed in their various communities. Nonprofits benefitting from Volunteer Day included Bethany Home Retirement Center and Nursing Facility (Dubuque, IA), Junior Achievement (Milwaukee, WI), Project Sunshine (New York, NY), St. Mary's Food Bank (Phoenix, AZ), Youth Village Resources (Dallas, TX), Mission of Deeds (Boston, MA), Toys for Tots (Jacksonville, FL), the Greater Chicago Food Depository and many others. In conjunction with Volunteer Day, McGladrey announced that the second annual McGladrey Classic last month in Sea Island raised approximately $300,000 for Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Georgia and other national and local charitable organizations. This is a 100-percent increase over charitable contributions raised during the 2010 inaugural event. "McGladrey has been giving back to the communities where we live and work for more than 85 years," said Joe Adams, managing partner and CEO for McGladrey & Pullen. "We support Special Olympics and other not-for-profit organizations nationally through The McGladrey Classic, and our employees are actively engaged in their communities on an ongoing basis. Volunteer Day provides us with yet another opportunity to give back in a very large-scale way, and I am pleased that so many of our partners and employees rallied together to share their time and talents with those in need." A number of the nonprofits for which employees volunteered are clients of the firms, which provided unique opportunities to build relationships while simultaneously serving the local communities where the firms operate.
