McGladrey Culinary Challenge for Charity to Benefit
Boston Area Nonprofits
December 7th event continues Caturano and Company’s long legacy of philanthropic giving
BOSTON — (November 30, 2010) — In one week, the McGladrey Culinary Challenge for Charity will pair seven local renowned chefs with seven charitable organizations to raise funds in support of community-based projects in the Boston area.
Hosted by McGladrey, the challenge will take place during a celebratory evening of community, charity and clients on Tuesday, December 7 at the firm's offices at 80 City Square.
“We wanted to host a major event that gives back to the Boston community as a way to say thank you to our clients and to show we will continue our legacy of philanthropic giving under our new McGladrey name,” said Richard J. Caturano, the firm's Boston office managing partner and former head of Caturano and Company.
Caturano and Company recently merged with RSM McGladrey, Inc. and McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, which are leading providers of assurance, tax and consulting in the U.S. operating under the McGladrey brand.
One hundred percent of the gross proceeds from the evening’s donations will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, The Genesis Fund, Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries, The Jewish National Fund, The Lenny Zakim Fund, Boston Police Activities League and Special Olympics.
The event will boast the culinary talents and edible delights of these celebrated local chefs:
- Anthony Caturano, Prezza
- Chris Damian, Legendary Restaurant Group
- Dante deMagistris, Restaurant dante
- Frank McClelland, L’Espalier
- Jeff Nace, Neptune Oyster
- Jason Santos, Gargoyles on the Square
- Lydia Shire, Towne
As part of the Culinary Challenge, local well-known media personalities will be paired up with the chefs/charities as "Sous-chefs", acting as ambassadors to garner votes for their respective team. The chef/charity/media personality team with the most votes at the end of the evening has the opportunity to receive an additional donation from the McGladrey New England Charitable Foundation, an employee-managed foundation which gives the firms’ employees a unique opportunity to work as a team, to share their time and to support their communities.
“Through fundraising initiatives and employee-run events, the McGladrey New England Charitable Foundation, formerly the Caturano and Company Foundation, has a longstanding tradition of raising more than $200,000 each year to support Boston causes,” said Caturano. “McGladrey and Caturano and Company share a common vision, philosophy and commitment to exceptional client service as well as an unwavering commitment to the communities in which we work and live.”
A limited number of tickets remain available with a minimum $75 suggested tax-deductible donation to the McGladrey New England Charitable Foundation.
