Cutting the small business red tape
On April 5, 2012, President Barack Obama signed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act in a move intended to encourage small businesses as well as renewable and alternative energy companies to create jobs and jumpstart their business operations. To that end, significant provisions of the Act include relief to emerging growth companies from certain regulatory and disclosure requirements and an increase in the number of shareholders a company may have before requiring SEC registration of its common stock.
