Alert: Be prepared for MAC notification

Health care providers and suppliers that enrolled in Medicare before March 25, 2011, will be required to revalidate their enrollment by March 2015, but only after their Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) notifies them to do so. MACs will send out letters, on a regular basis, to begin the revalidation process for each provider and supplier. If you receive a letter, you will have 60 days from the date of the receipt of that letter to respond to the request to revalidate your enrollment by completing the 855 application. Failure to submit enrollment forms as requested may result in the deactivation of Medicare billing privileges.

CMS has posted downloadable files on its revalidation website, listing providers and suppliers who have been mailed revalidation requests. We recommend that providers check these lists to confirm whether they have been mailed revalidation requests, as mail correspondence often does not reach its intended addressee.
